Aztec Education
The
Aztecs were one of the first empires in history to have a mandatory education
system. In the Aztec empire all children
that were boys could attend school whether were poor or not. The age that school started in the Aztec
empire was 15. In school the boys were
taught about the history of the Aztecs, the religion of the Aztecs, the art of
war and how to fight. The schools also
had sports where they would compete against other schools in the empire.
Aztec Impact on Society Today
Today
most children in America attend school just like the Aztecs with one exception
both boys and girls attend school. Unlike the Aztecs most kids start school at
age five or six. Today we learn about
the same things the Aztecs learned about but with science, math, English and
history of almost all countries. We also
use their idea of competing against different schools in athletic events.
Aztec Agriculture
The agriculture Aztecs gave is very important to our world. It gave us some foods we eat today, like
corn, squash, beans, and potatoes. It
also gave us some techniques we use in farming today and empires after the
Aztecs. Lastly, religion was big in
farming, so religion got big during the Aztec empire. That’s how agriculture is important to our
world.
Aztec Agriculture
· It was highly developed, and a famous study in history.
· They used chinampas, which is a method of farming that used small, rectangular areas to grow crops on beds in the Mexican valley.
· They also used terracing, which is another method that created wall of stones in hillsides, then the stones would fill in to create deeper soil.
· The main crop grown in Aztec agriculture was maize, or corn.
· Other important crops were squash, beans, sweet potatoes, and potatoes during the time.
· Maize, squash, and beans, during the time, were called “The Three Sisters” because they were planted together so the soil would keep its nutrients, which would ensure that the crops grow well, and people get the healthy food we need for our bodies.
· On the dry lands, the farmers would grow cotton, cacti, and maguey, which is a term for certain types of agave.
